To avoid problems when entering or leaving the Armenian territory, you should be aware of the rules regulating the country’s customs authority.
According to the law of RA the goods forbidden for the transportation are:
The tourist leaving for the foreign country or arriving from the foreign country can import up to 10 titles of medicines and pharmaceuticals, not exceeding three consumer packages for each, if much more number is not motivated by the documents for the therapy or personal use.
The tourists, without the presence of any documents, except the cases provided by the legislation, can export from the RA up to 5 million AMD in cash and equivalent foreign currency in cash in the form of banknotes and coins, as well as payment securities. If the amount exceeds the mentioned amount, the exportation of the RA AMD and foreign currency is realized in cashless mode, and the exportation of payment securities is realized by filling the written customs declaration.
The tourists, without filling a written customs declaration, except the cases provided by the legislation, can import to the RA AMD in cash equivalent up to 15000 Euros expressed in the form of banknotes and coins, as well as payment securities. If the amount exceeds the mentioned amount, the importation of mentioned currency value is subject to the customs declaration.
The tourists can transport by the RA customs frontier goods as an accompanied load which weight is less than 50 kg and the total customs amount is less than 150000 AMD.
The tourists can transport by the RA customs frontier the wearing personal use belongings or personal use belongings in their luggage without paying the customs payments. These are the goods which do not have factory packaging and labeling.

All the above mentioned rules of custom control refer only to the Armenian borders crossing, not the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh), as the RA and the Republic of Artsakh haven't interstate border in its classical interpretation. The passport-visa control is placed at the highway Goris-Stepanakert, not far from the village of Aghavno (former Zabukh), and here is realized only the selective check of passport and visa, without the Customs inspection.
